Moana Holiday House # 2

Currently under construction, this 2-storey spacious holiday home offers lake views to the South, while appearing as a humble West Coast bach at street level from the North.

Compact Family Home

Now happily completed, this project had its share of the 2020 pandemic challenges when the owners had to move in for the lockdown into a barely livable place. Check out the project images here.

Work in progress…

The farm shed inspired buildings are linked together and arranged to provide shelter from the Easterly. The simple lean-to porches regulate sun exposure all year around. The house has been designed to be constructed in stages, commencing with the small self-contained "cottage".

Moana Holiday House # 1

Completed in early 2019, this humble West Coast holiday home features split level design that follows the gentle sloping contours of the ground.

A throwback…

Completed in 2017, a hill top design meant the building was exposed to strong Kaikoura winds while offering panoramic views from the South. Not intentionally energy efficient by brief, multiple considerations were given at the concept design stage as well as during the material selection in order to ensure the house was not just a place with great views, but also comfortable to live in.

Rural Family Home.

An early work built in 2011. The house was designed to “Code minimum” but nevertheless performed well both in winter and summer, thanks for the elongated shape stretching East-West, maximised glazing on the North side and careful placement of roof shading.
